At Morton Philips, we’re proud to shout from the rooftops as our Director of Research, Rachel Farrell, prepares for one of the most awe‑inspiring personal and philanthropic journeys of her life.

In March 2026, Rachel will trek to Mount Everest Base Camp in support of Breakthrough T1D Australia (formerly JDRF), the world’s leading type 1 diabetes research and advocacy organisation.

Trekking to EBC for a world without T1D

Rachel (who herself has T1D for over26 years) isn’t just setting her sights on the Himalayas; she’s hiking with purpose, heart and a mission.

This expedition is far more than a physical challenge - it’s a beacon of hope for the millions of individuals and families in Australia navigating life with type 1 diabetes (T1D) every single day.

Type 1 diabetes is relentless -requiring constant management, glucose monitoring, insulin dosing 24/7 and dealing with the unexpected.

Rachel’s climb demonstrates unwavering commitment and reminds us all that T1D should never define what’s possible. Her Everest Base Camp trek is a testament to resilience, solid preparation, respect and leadership - values she embodies in her work and in life.

We invite you to join us in supporting Rachel’s extraordinary mission.

Whether you donate, share herstory, begin a conversation about T1D or simply spread awareness, you’re helping accelerate research breakthroughs that will one day transform - and ultimately end - type 1 diabetes.

Support Rachel.

Support Breakthrough T1D.

Let’s make this expedition one for the books and another stride toward a world without T1D.
